THE BREED´S HISTORY

The breed originates from the former Czechoslovakia . It was a royal breed that was used as a companion dog by the country's upper class. It is not known exactly when the breed originated, but it is said that it was before King Boleslav II (1058–1080), who had two specimens of the breed. It also became known at other European royal houses when the Bohemian princes introduced them. In the 19th century, the breed lost its popularity in favor of the Mini Pincher. In the 1980s, the popularity increased again, and the number of breeders increased. Even today, the breed is rarely outside the Czech Republic and Slovakia, although Poland, Denmark and Sweden have a few breeders.

THE BREED´S HISTORY IN NORWAY

Breeding work in Norway was started by Anne Nystrøm in 2007 who had imported two small black / tan PK bitches.
Following an application to NKK and pressure, the breed was approved in July 2008 in NKK.
The name NKK chose to use was Czech Rat Dog.
The first Norwegian registered dogs in NKK were the bitches Fialka and Fazolka Zamecke Nadvori, known as "Tiffany and Chantal" and the male Angel Crown Bachelor Burberry, owned by Anne Nystrøm Kennel Showtop.
"Chantal" Fazolka Zamecke Nadvori was the mother of the first NKK registered litter in Norway. "Bambi" Showtops Brilliant Bacheloretta was the first Norwegian-born dog in the breed to have NKK registered litter.
Anne Nystrøm worked quite alone with the breed work and therefore applied in 2010 for the breed's admission to NMHK. She was appointed Breed Representative for the breed under the Norwegian Miniature Dog Club.
It was absolutely essential to shed light on the admission meeting during NMHK's General Assembly, the importance of being able to continue the good cooperation she had established and continue to work closely with the breed's country of origin, the Czech Republic.
NMHK's main board has supported and contributed to this collaboration so that the breed has been able to hold ratings / breeding scores with the help of experts on the breed from the Czech breed club and Czech breed judges.
This was an important work in terms of the breed's structure in Norway. After many years of protests against the Norwegian breed name Czech Rat Dog, it was replaced with the original name Prazsky Krysarik in 2013. The first NKK pedigree with the breed name Prazsky Krysarik came in 2014.
